Keynote Speakers

Erik Borgman (1957) is theologian (roman catholic), and director of the
interdisciplinary Heyendaal Institute for Theology, Sciences and Culture at
the Radboud University Nijmegen, the Netherlands. He is married and belongs
to the lay order of the Dominicans. He does research and publicises about
the subject of religion and contemporary culture.


Ger Groot (1954) studied theology in Amsterdam and philosophy in Amsterdam and Paris. He tought philosophy at the University of Amsterdam and teaches now at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. From 1990 to 1993 he worked as editor of the philosophical supplement Letter en Geest of the Dutch daily Trouw. Since then he writes in a number of Dutch newspapers and weeklies, mainly in NRC-Handelsblad and De Groene Amsterdammer, mainly on topics of literature, philosophy and political issues. He published many essays in philosophical and cultural reviews and published a book with interviews with internationally renowned philosophers. His most recent books are Vier ongemakkelijke filosofen: Nietzsche, Cioran, Bataille, Derrida (Four uneasy philosophers: Nietzsche, Cioran, Bataille, Derrida – 2003) and Het krediet van het credo (The credit of the creed – 2006).
